George decided not to acknowledge Lily's worries. She always seemed to doubting the resolve of her new friend. But if George was going to help her, doubt needed to be last thing on her mind, because it would be like a poison distracting her from the concentration she needed.
Lily's laugh was nice to hear, though.. "Whadya mean the grim reaper's chilling on my shoulder?! Do I really seem that gloomy to everyone?!"
The corners of her mouth twitched, right before she broke out into a laugh. George pointed to a random by-passer, who looked shocked. "Look at this guy's face. He's never seen your tonsils!" George continued to smile because more that likely the guy was shocked at being singled out, and was afraid that the two of them would hurt him in some way.
Lily was obviously unaware of how she looked to everyone. When she was huddled up in some corner with book, she looked like a recluse. The rare smiling and piercing blues eyes gave her a cold air. It's a good thing that George was so warm. The nervous shifting and twittering made her snicker. She really was a recluse. "There is no reason you should nervous about walking into the kitchen of your home." People were cruel; to make someone they lived with so shy and nervous was unsettling to George. Is that how we are? When we struggle with be accepted everyday, is that how we treat one of our own?
They came into the kitchen to find it empty. "How anticlimactic," George sighed. Perhaps she was looking for conflict. But she shrugged and headed for the refrigerator. "What do you want to eat? Sandwiches or something cooked? Haha, if you're brave enough to trust my cooking!" She looked over shoulder and grinned. She was actually a decent cook. But it's be fun to see the fearful look on her face as she took her first bite.
Her stomach rumbled as she waited for Lily to respond.

Lily looked around the kitchen and immeadiately relaxed, seeing no one else inside. She smiled slightly and took a seat on a bar stool, staring at George and the refrigerator. She took her messenger bag off of her shoulder and put it on the corner of her chair.
"I dunno really. It's up to you, but don't you dare try to poison me!" she laughed again, and her smile grew into a grin. She couldn't remember the last time she laughed so much. She got up and walked around the bar and joined George at the refrigerator. "I honestly don't have the slightest clue as to what I want to have....So if you want to fix something really bad, then go ahead. Or I can just get a bowl of cereal. That's practically all I eat.." she wasn't joking, and by looking at her you could tell. She was extremely skinny. But it wasn't because she wanted to be skinny, she just really liked cereal for some odd reason.
All of a sudden a big, loud rumble was heard. Lily immeadiately doubled-over in laughter as she recognized the rumbling to come from George's stomach. "Whatever you decide to do.. do it fast! Your stomach will probably end up eating you if you don't!"

"Whatever you decide to do.. do it fast! Your stomach will probably end up eating you if you don't!"
George threw back her head and laughed. Her stomach had a mind of its own. And didn't doubt that it might eat her and Lily. She glanced at Lily who was awfully skinny, and rose her eyebrow. "If cereal is all you eat, that will have to change. You look like you'll blow away if I sneeze!" George said. She decided to cook, mostly in concern for Lily's health. Nothing too heavy, it was about lunch time.
"Are you a vegetarian?" George asked. "If not, how about a chicken quesadilla? If you are you can have a cheese one." She started pulling out ingredients. It looked like someone had just gone shopping. There was some fresh chicken breast in the fridge. Placing everything on the counter, she rummaged through the cabinets to find a frying pan.
"This might seem horrible of me. But I'd like to know more about your power. Like what does your body do with absorbed life force?" George twirled a chopping knife in her hand. She sliced mushrooms, and cut the chicken into strips. She put the frying pan on the stove and put a drop of butter.
The chicken sizzled. "I didn't even wait for you to respond." She chuckled at the fact that she always just took over in social settings. That was her nature, hopefully, Lily didn't think she was jerk. The thin girl was genial. It was a shame she was so alone. George didn't depressed easily, but that did it. The injustice of isolating a social creature was unforgivable.
She smiled at Lily. "You mind shredding the cheese?"

"Well I can't help it! I dunno how to cook! Besides, I rather like Fruit Loops........ or oatmeal occasionally." she explained, grinning widely. She couldn't help it, she loved cereal.
"A vegetarian? Well..." but George had cut her off, wanting to know more about her power. "Well... it uses me.... I suposse if I used it on a mutant I might gain their powers as well... but I can't say that I know for sure.... But my body just absorbs it and uses it..... when it happened...with my dad.... I got this huge want for peanutbutter for a while. And he really loved that stuff... so maybe a bit of their personality comes along with it. But I dunno for sure." Lily's grin reappeared a few seconds later as the smell of the chicken drifted into the air. It smelled wonderful.
"I didn't even wait for you to respond." George said, meaning when she asked if Lily was a vegetarian or not.
"Oh don't worry about it at all. I'm not..... though I only really eat chicken.... so I guess I'm a chicken-a-tarian..." she joked, laughing softly. She nodded to George's question, and picked up a greater and began to shred the cheese. Her finger accidentally slipped and she cut deep into her index finger, and the glove. Lily sighed and grabbed a towel and wrapped it around the wound. "I've always been rather clumsy at times..." she confessed as she took off the cloth. The wound had dissapeared in a matter of seconds. It was as if the extra life force of her father inside of her protected her...... "Wow....that's....different." she said, her eyes wide in shock as she examined the once sliced finger.

George stared at Lily's hand. The glove had been sliced through. George's eyes widened. "You aren't supposed to grate cheese that hard." She immediately grabbed Lily's hand to observe the wound...which was not there when she finally did get to see Lily's finger.
"Wow....that's....different."
George looked into Lily's eyes. "That's never happened before? Perhaps you're mutant gene uses the excess life force to restore your damaged life force, giving you accelerated healing." George muttered distractedly. She was amazed at the ability. There were some many possibilities filling her brain! It was overwhelming.
Sniffing the air, reminded her of the task at hand. "Gah! The chicken!" She dashed over to the stove. Carefully and quickly she scooped the strips out of the pan. "Saved it!" Mulling over Lily's finger in her head, George started to feel, as though she was obsessing over Lily's power. Obviously there were good aspects of it. She might even be able to extrovert her powers out and heal others.
It was possible, maybe unlikely. But it never hurt to try. After washing out the pan, George placed the tortillas in the pan then the mushrooms and cheese that Lily managed to grate. "Are you all right? You look a bit shaken." She had never seen that part of her power before, Lily should be surprised. Maybe that would inspire the girl to explore her mutant ability.

Lily shook her head as she immeadiately grabbed her bag and pulled another glove out from it. She took the glove off, revealing a very very pale but elegant hand. And immeadiately slipped on the new one. "That was....... odd! Lucky I always keep spares..." she was a little surprised by it all. But that did explain why she never had any scars, bruises, or scabs.
Lily looked at the chicken, and laughed slightly. Sorry, I supposse I shouldn't distract the chef, eh?" she said, as she cleaned the greater. Her mind was still in a buzz, trying to figure it all out. But after a few minutes she ruled it as un-explainable, and focused on the greater, not wanting another accident.
"Are you all right? You look a bit shaken." George asked.
"Yeah I'm fine.... it was just odd really. I guess it explains why I've never had any scars or anything of the sort........ Though it's seriously odd..." she said, leaning back against the counter, a smile still present on her face. A small pot hung on a rack, and through it's silver Lily could see herself. George was right.. if Lily didn't smile, she looked ghostly, seeming as she was as pale as paper almost. She instantly made a mental note to go outside more.

George was slightly disappointed. Lily was excited as she was about the discovery. George got over it because Lily seemed much happier, she was smiling and looked more lively. That was enough for one day. From the corner of her eye, George could see Lily pulling on another glove. Maybe one day she wouldn't need them.
George began folding to quesadillas in the pan with her bare hands. Don't worry they were clean! She focused and used the steam molecules to wrap her hands in protective shielding to block out most of the heat. She grinned at her work. A few more months of practice and she might have an effective shield.
"Alright," she said happily, as she plated the food. She turned and Lily was leaning against the counter. "Here we go!" George's stomach growled rudely. "Hold on!" She exclaimed.
She eagerly took a bite of the tortilla sandwich. "I'm glad I ran into you, Lily. Honestly I am. Something about you makes me feel better about humanity." She realized she was sounding awfully serious and it didn't really please her. Even if life was depressing at times, one should always make the best of it.
Grinning, she looked at Lily's pale skin. "After this we're going outside." In between bites she add, "I've seen old book pages tanner than you!"

Lily smiled excitedly at the quesidilla and quickly took a bite. It was burning hot! But as soon as she thought that her mouth was going to be burnt, her tongue stopped hurting. Her growling stomach urged her on a bit, so she just took another bite, ignoring the heat.
"I'm glad I ran into you, Lily. Honestly I am. Something about you makes me feel better about humanity."
Lily looked at her with a funny sort of what-do-you-mean expression, but waved the questions away with her hand as she hungrily continued to eat. She just figured that there were some things she would never understand about George, and that didn't bother her a bit. "WEll I'm glad for once that someone didn't run away at the sight of me!" she said, laughing softly. BUt she quickly stopped so she could continue eating. It was about two minutes later and all of her food was gone. She hadn't eaten this good in....well she couldn't really remember!
"Your quesidillas were great! You're a really good cook!" she exclaimed and then continued to her laid back position of leaning against the counter, She hadn't felt this home in years.
"After this we're going outside. 've seen old book pages tanner than you!" George exclaimed, as she looked at Lily's pale color.
"Well were they any good?! I usually prefer to read the newer books...." she joked, laughing softly. Her right gloved-hand moved up and pushed back her bangs a bit, but they just fell back right where they were. She grinned softly and gave up, her bangs were always permanently hiding part of her face. "Well we can try..... but I've always been this pale. The sun has never really effected me.... " she said, and then immeadiately wondered if she could heal sunburns as well.

"Well were they any good?! I usually prefer to read the newer books...."
George chuckled. "The shy nerdlinger to end, eh?" She scoffed teasingly. Lily fiddled with her hair as George took the dishes from her new friend. She was happy that Lily enjoyed, judging by her comment and the fact that there was not a crumb on the plate. She placed everything in the sink, rinsing everything off. Then she put everything in the dishwasher.
"Well we can try..... but I've always been this pale. The sun has never really effected me.... "
George wondered if she burned easily. Then wondered if she healed her sunburn. She then decided that she was a freak for being obsessed with mutant abilities. She grinned at Lily. Her cheek muscles where starting hurt. But George liked that burning in her face. It was much better than a searing loneliness.
"What now, newfound buddy-pal of mine? Lead the way." George thought for a second who she was talking to. "If you say Library, I will drown you." She said with all seriousness.

"The shy nerdlinger to end, eh?" George teased.
Lily laughed and picked up her messenger bag, slinging the strap across her neck and shoulder. She grinned softly, and gave a little shrug as if to say, "well what if I am?!" in a kidding sort of way.
"What now, newfound buddy-pal of mine? Lead the way........If you say Library, I will drown you." George added the last part after rethinking it. Lily could tell what she was thinking. She had reconsidered who she was talking to... and Lily didn't really blame her. She laughed softly again, just as a group of teenagers walked into the kitchen. They all looked appaled by the sight of Lily and they back up some as if to avoid her like she was a disease. "I wonder if she poisioned some of the food.... maybe we should get something at the market..." one of the girls whispered. Though it wasn't one of the secretive type whispers, no she had meant for Lily to hear. All of the girls she was talking to began to snicker and look menacingly at Lily, it was very obvious they disliked her greatly. Lily's grin immeadiately vanished. She had stopped making any sound upon their arrival. And now her head slowly dropped as she looked to the floor, her hair falling in her face and covering it almost completely.
"Oh look, she's gotten one of the naive new girls to be her friend...... Hey you! You do know she's a freak, right?! I mean she killed her own father! If I were you, I'd go find a new friend..." The same girl as before began to say. Lily was tired of it. Tired of being made fun of like that. Her head rose, and she glared at the girl. "Unlike you, George can actually see beyond her nose, because it isn't sticking so far up in the air...." Lily said softly, but menacingly, her hands curling into fists. Her bright blue eyes vanished and were replaced with menacing red eyes. It wasn't only her powers that triggered the Red side of Lily, it was anger.
[tehehe, I'm so mean to my character! But everything was going so good, I had to stir up a bit of trouble....]

((it's ok! This'll be fun))
George noticed the change in Lily's very posture. Then she heard the obnoxiously loud whispers. George tightened her jaw, but grinned in an effort to show Lily words meant nothing to her. Then they called her naive. George was not naive! In any way, shape, or form! At first she found their ignorance amusing, but then they insulted her intelligence, and called Lily a freak.
Before she could say anything, Lily spoke up coldly and harshly. "Unlike you, George can actually see beyond her nose, because it isn't sticking so far up in the air...." George could almost feel the rage seething off Lily.
George was glad that Lily was sticking up for herself. But if it got out of hand and the girls ran to the fuzz. Lily would get in serious trouble. Without a second thought George pulled Lily back behind her. She focused her energy and sent water surging through piping in the walls. "Apologize!" George growled. She was buying time until she had built up enough pressure. She could care less if they apologized or not.
They gave her a disgusted look. George hummed she could feel the water course through the wall towards the faucet. "APOLOGIZE!" She screamed as water sprayed from the sink. George pressed a little more energy into shielding them both from the spray. The girls squealed as they were it with icy cold water. She then made the water ice freezing them in place.
Trying to still look menacing, George leaned against the counter. She was exhausted. She had never used so much energy before. "Let's go to the library Lily, someone will come for them eventually." George said weakly as she staggered out the Library. She was probably going to be in trouble for damaging school property, endangering the lives of students, reckless behavior...blah blah blah.
If she was going to be in trouble, she wanted to be well rested.
((she was being over-protective...go ahead and tell her off XD))

As soon as George pulled LIly behind her the madness was gone. Her fists uncurled, and her eyes returned to their normal bright blue. But she stared at the girls angrily, looking at them, and then looking at her friend, wondering what she was doing. Then it popped into her head.... "Even if I have to blow a few pipes if someone gets on my nerves..."[/color] George's voice said in her head. Lily's eyes immeadiately darted to the wall and a splash of water came from the faucet. But she couldn't feel it! It flew at the girls, freezing them in place, but it was as if a water wall was in front of her, saving them from their fate.
Lily couldn't believe it all. She had just met George, and her she was sticking up for her. And, she supossed, partly for herself. "Let's go to the library Lily, someone will come for them eventually." George said weakly, interrupting Lily's thoughts. Lily grinned widely. "I never thought I'd ever hear you of all people suggest to go to the library..." she joked, and then turned to George, but her smile vanished as she saw how weak she was. She had never conjured that much energy before, most likely. Lily immeadiately put an arm around her to help stable her, though before hand she made sure no skin was showing that could possibly come in contact with George.
She helped her down the hall, and they quickly slipped into the library, avoiding the librarian at all costs. The two walked down the last row of books and came to the back of the library, where Lily knew there were a few chairs. Let them be empty.. she hoped in her head.
By luck they were, and Lily helped George into a chair, and then sat down herself, sighing with relief. "George, I can't believe that! You conjured a water wall, and froze some of my toughest enemies all in one day! You must be exahusted!" she exclaimed softly, hoping the librarian wouldn't overhear. "And if they blame you, I'm going to say I helped.... I'm not letting you get in trouble all by yourself... what friend would I be if I let you do that?!" she smiled softly and sunk down in the chair, reviewing the days activities. This had to be the most hectic day she had experienced since she came to the school. "You look rather tired......" she observed aloud.

George's body shook as they settled down into chairs. "George, I can't believe that! You conjured a water wall, and froze some of my toughest enemies all in one day! You must be exahusted!...And if they blame you, I'm going to say I helped.... I'm not letting you get in trouble all by yourself... what friend would I be if I let you do that?!"
George rolled her eyes...Lily didn't seem to understand why she did what she did. "You can't. You've been here for a while. I just got here." She wheezed. "They'll go easier on me. So just keep your mouth shut." She grinned weakly at Lily.
Leaning her head back and closing her eyes, George got comfortable. "You look rather tired......" She chuckled. "No Lily, I'm not tired. I'm just fine. And if those were your toughest enemies then we can handle the rest." She sighed and waited for that inevitable called to principles office.
In the meantime she would enjoy Lily's company. "How about you crack up that book and read to your conquering heroine?" George said cheekily, showing that she hadn't lost her since of humor. Life might be like this every day, now!

Lily shook her head. "No way!!!!!! Then they'll think I'm a wimp!... and I don't want them to know that!" she joked, laughing softly. "Besides, they won't go hard on me either..... this is the first time I've ever done anything wrong..."
"No Lily, I'm not tired. I'm just fine. And if those were your toughest enemies then we can handle the rest." "Well not entirely my worst.... but I'm sure we could handle any of them..." she said, grinning widely. She was exhilirated by it all.
"How about you crack up that book and read to your conquering heroine?"
she laughed. "No problem! she said, digging into her bag and pulling out her book. Though she was far too exhilirated to really comprehend what she was reading, but George looked tired, so she'd let her sleep. She opened the book to where her bookmark held her place and began to read, though her thoughts still pondered on all that had happened.

Lily began to read and George listened to her voice. She wasn't going to tell Lily but she had a killer headache. Exhaustion and headaches always followed extensive use of her powers. Exhaustion was hard to hide. But Lily didn't need to worry about George anymore than she was. She deserved to revel in this victory.
Lily's voice was lovely, soft and gentle like smooth river currents. George was soon asleep, where she sat bonelessly in the chair.
((what now?))
