Her voice was low and sounded annoyed, as she rummaged through the various pictures and such. She had been looking for a certain piece but now failed to find it. It was something she really needed at the moment as well. She needed to make up some plans for the next class and that picture was a big part of it.
Tapping her head with her palm, she sighed, "Come on Yenta...where did you put it?" she whispered to herself, becoming highly irritated. She couldn't do the project without this damn picture and she lost it! LOST IT! That only meant one thing- she had to come up with a whole new project.
Yenta leaned against one of the tables staring at the large classroom, now a mess. There was no class at the moment so it was alright and she could have it cleaned up in no time. Maybe that was the only solution- clean and sort through the sea of artwork.

Stepping through the doorway, Lana peered into Proffessor Isabell's classroom with a precipitated presence of chaos. She knew it was coming, it was always this way.. She leaned down to pick up a piece of artwork that laid in front of the door. It was a small drawing of a bluebird with dark wings and a bright goldenrod beak. "Do you need any help Professor?" Lana said, wondering why she looked so nervous.
"I just came by to ask how I did on the last assignment.." her voice trailed off nervously. It had been a "free-for-all" type of work and all she did was paint a cow jumping over the moon. Her frail art skills were pathetic enough, but once she looked around and saw others throwing paint at easels and making hand and face paintings.. well.. she didn't stand a chance. "I was wondering if your grades were ready," she continued as her heart gradually sunk lower and lower in fear of the poor grade she was about to get. It was always the same in art class.. at least for Lana.

Yenta turned around and smiled and Lana. It was good to see something else then a picture for once. A picture that was lost too. She sighed and ran her hand through her short hair. Glancing at the paper in Lana's hand, her face flushed, "Ha....where did you get that?" she asked, a bit amazed.
She walked over to Lana, and patted the girl's shoulder, "I haven't finished my grades yet due to that fact of some....." she looked around the room, "....work problems," she winked, sticking out her tongue in a way to say, 'not really'. A giggle filled the air as she stepped back over to her desk and opened a draw. She pulled out Lana's work and showed it to her, "You did this right?"

"Ha....where did you get that?" Lana looked down at the paper in her hand of the small fowl, "Oh, it was over here by the door.." The teacher came closer, setting a gentle hand on Lana's shoulder. Lana had been in this position before.. the comforting teacher. This scene always happened just before they told her: "It's okay to use your powers.." Lana tensed at her professor's touch.
I haven't finished my grades yet due to that fact of some.....work problems," Professor Isabell explained as she made a humorous face. Lana relaxed a bit, feeling that she would finally have an encounter with a teacher that didn't involve convincing her to try and use her abilities. Stepping through the papers once more, the professor pulled out a paper as she spoke, "You did this right?" Lana looked up and noticed her sickening work that could hardly be considered art. She made a nervous look and nodded with a hopeless look on her face.

She gave a gentle smile and turned it back to herself to look at it properly. She gave a thoughtful stare at it, taking in every little detail, all the while trying to understand the piece. She took a sigh, knowing she could never actually understand something she didn't paint and for that fact, she could never really give the proper grade.
Walking around the desk, she took a seat in one of the chairs, "Lana..." she called over to her, beckoning the girl, "What do you think of this piece?" she asked, giving a look at her. Lana was definitely a smart girl but she didn't really know how confident the girl actually was.

Lana cringed a bit as the teacher turned the paper to examine it. She wanted to be invisible!! Oh why couldn't that be my power?! she whined to herself in her own thoughts.. She came back to her senses as Professor Isabell's form made a movement towards one of the desks. She sat behind it politely, still looking over Lana's work.
"Lana..." she beckoned as Lana winced at her own name and made a slow movement towards the desk near the teacher, "What do you think of this piece?" The student finally sat down and thought about the question. She coached herself in her mind, Be proud of your work, you made it. Her answer started out softly before she continued, "Well, the assignment was free-for-all and I suppose it was a bit out of the box to just draw on the canvas after seeing what others did. I mean, I must've had the cleanest area when I was done!" She laughed nervously, knowing she hadn't really answered the question. She stiffened up a bit more and decided to go for it, "I think it's traditional, and it presents the childish nature of the folklore surrounding the scene.." It was the best she could think of, and it actually came out pretty good. Lana was even surprised at herself for making such a good excuse for such a poor excuse of an assignment.

Yenta nodded and looked at the piece some more. Her eyes went over each little piece of the canvas, noting each and every detail. It had to be nerve wrecking to see someone go over your work the way Yenta did. She looked for everything, every colour, every stroke, everything!
"Ah...so I see," she said finally, putting the canvas down on the desk gently. She stood up once more, dusting off her pants and stretched her arms. Looking at Lana, she could see the girl awaiting her answer and knew that she should stop stalling, "I'd have to give you a B for this..." she said happily, "Because you were the only student who didn't aim to be better than the rest. Everyone in my class made beautiful pieces of wokr and only focused on one thing- to be better than everyone else. Even in this battlefield of painters, you made something sweet and simple. You even gave it a better purpose. For that, I'd have to say that you did well," she smiled, patting her student on the shoulder, "Besides....isn't that an adorble cow?"

Professor Isabell's eyes returned to scanning the picture before her. Lana's body began to tense again as the shock of the brilliant concept she had thought up began to fade. Her eyes shot around the room as her nerves began to run wild. Invisible, invisible, invisible!! she chanted over and over in her head as if it was going to happen.
"Ah...soI see," she said, breaking the silence but heightening the tension. Lana observed her movements with every bit of speculation as the teacher had done on her work. "I'd have to give you a B for this..." Lana's mouth dropped open, "Because you were the only student who didn't aim to be better than the rest. Everyone in my class made beautiful pieces of work and only focused on one thing- to be better than everyone else. Even in this battlefield of painters, you made something sweet and simple. You even gave it a better purpose. For that, I'd have to say that you did well." Lana stood with a brilliant smile formed on her face. The teacher returned the grin and patted her shoulder, "Besides....isn't that an adorable cow?" Lana laughed as the previous feeling of claustrophobia vanished. "Thanks Mrs. Isabell! I really appreciate you taking time to help me."

She sweetly smiled, putting the piece on the table besides her, "No worries hun, what are teachers for right?" she said, echoing an over used statement. For her, it was true. She was here to help her students anyway she could and to be their friends. It was the way she wanted it to be anyhow.
"If you need anything, I'm here..." her voice held such an intensity of truth. She meant what she said and wouldn't go against it.
