"All the sugar you eat, it's a wonder you're not shivering in a corner somewhere," Lily heard George mutter.
"I doubt that would happen... Sugar doesn't really effect me that much.." she shrugged, and took another sip of her smoothie. She was actually quite sad, because it was almost gone.
George pouted at her other comment. "I'm always nutty and odd..."
She sounded like a four year old. Lily laughed softly. "That is true... but coffee seems to make you....... more nutty that usual..." she explained, her right hand held up, and bushed back her hair, which fell right back into her face.
Lily was actually very surprised that George hadn't said anything about Ashcer.... nothing about how she needs to be nice and look on the bright side of things.... It really surprised Lily. She calmed down a bit, and then stared at her hands, wanting very desperately to reach in her book bag and pull out a book.

George settled back, enjoying the outing. It was a nice feeling but George quickly grew bored. Being a person of action it never did suit her to just sit and do nothing. Maybe it was the caffeine, but her skin was crawling to just do something, anything, even read a book. She knew Lily wanted to be reading somewhere. The girl probably brought a book with her...
"Lily I know you have a ton of books in there." She closed her hazel eyes, preparing herself to say something truly awful..."Do you have one for me?"

Lily's hand was nonchalantly slipping into her messenger bag. She was delighted by the touch of one of her many books. But when George spoke, Lily withdrew her hand, almost sure she was going to be yelled at for wanting to read.
"Lily I know you have a ton of books in there." oh great... I'm in for it now.... She thought, almost sure she was going to be yelled at. "Do you have one for me?"
Lily looked at George, truly stunned. "Are you feeling all right?!" she asked, pulling up her messenger bag, and pulling out To Kill a Mockingbird for herself. The meeting of Atticus inspired her to reread the book for some odd reason. "Um.... well I have A Tale of Two Citites, and The Legend of Dracula whichever you prefer...." she said, holding out the two books. She was slightly embarassed about hauling around a vampire book, but she found them fascinating for some odd reason.

"Um.... well I have A Tale of Two Citites, and The Legend of Dracula whichever you prefer...."
George chuckled at Lily's surprise. George did read, just not all the time and not every little thing. While reading is good, there are other good things too. She noticed Lily's To Kill a Mockingbird and was immediately reminded of her mother's scolding for playing in the birdbath, and killing the mockingbirds that were in it...
"My mother made me read that book as punishment. I've never really understood why, but I was a kid at the time..." George said absently.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." George grinned. "It must really be on of those for George to as for a book. I've read A Tale of Two Cities, so Dracula I guess." George said draining the last of her coffee.
George raised her eyebrow, and taking her book of choice. "Did you plan on reading all these books today? Or do you juat caring them around for no particular reason?" She asked, honestly curious why one would need some many books on a trip to a coffee shop.

"My mother made me read that book as punishment. I've never really understood why, but I was a kid at the time..." she said, mentioning To Kill a Mockingbird.
"Well.... what did you do? I just got the sudden urge to read it again... after talking with Atticus.." she admitted, opening about 3/4 of the way in where her faded blue ribbon kept her spot.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...It must really be on of those for George to as for a book. I've read A Tale of Two Cities, so Dracula I guess." Lily laughed. She did think it was odd that George had asked for a book. She held out her copy of Dracula and offered it to her.
"Did you plan on reading all these books today? Or do you juat caring them around for no particular reason?" George asked as she took the book.
Lily shrugged. "I've actually read all of them about three times. They are just some of my favorites..... and I always have at least one book in my bag for me to read. I find that they are good boredom busters if I need them... Though it's highly rude to start reading in the middle of a conversation..... I don't do that... Just if I'm sitting alone, or with someone else who is reading....." she confessed, her eyes peering back down to the book in her hands.

"Well.... what did you do? I just got the sudden urge to read it again... after talking with Atticus.."
George grinned, and flipped the book over in her hands. "I drowned some mockingbirds, when I was playing with the birdbath..." She murmured examining the book.

Because of the caffeine and George's natural busy mind, she was thinking and reading at the same time. Lily must have a lot of free time to read three books three times. Well, I will ensure that you will not be bored whenever I'm around." She said, turning the page.

"I drowned some mockingbirds, when I was playing with the birdbath..." She murmured as she looked throught her book.
Lily laughed. "I could actually see you doing that......... But you shouldn't have. Mockingbirds don't harm you... why harm them?"
As George began to read, so did Lily. She was just getting through the trial, one of the exciting parts in the book... though of course it was sad how they renderred Tom Robinson Guilty, because everyone could see Mayella was lying..... but it was exciting how it showed that Atticus had almost pursuaded the jury that a black man was innocent..... The segregation in this book was horrific.. it was good to see that Atticus tried his best to fight for Tom's life....... Well, I will ensure that you will not be bored whenever I'm around." George said, interuptin her thoughts. Lily murmured a "ok.." and kept reading, becoming farther and farther submerged into the book. "Mayella should go die some place...." she murmured to herself angrily.

"I could actually see you doing that......... But you shouldn't have. Mockingbirds don't harm you... why harm them?"
George looked up. "We were in Hawaii. The birds were surfing." She said like it was common sense.
George focused on her book, she knew the actual history of Vlad the Impaler and other Transylvanian stories. She had read Frankenstein and some other Victorian horror stories. But she seemed to skip over Dracula.
"Mayella should go die some place...."
George grinned wickedly, and tried to hide it behind her book. "I'm sure Frenchie will protect you from her evils...Mockingbird." She said softly.

[[oh great.... a new nickname for Lily?!]]
"We were in Hawaii. The birds were surfing."
Lily laughed softly. "Birds can surf too... that's no reason to kill them..."
Lily read on... she was just getting to the part where Tom Robinson tries to get out of the prison, and ends up dying. A sad look came over her face as she came to the sad ending to Tom Robinson's life. She hated that part of the book.. it was one of the worst....
Lily heard George say something, but it was very faint so she had to try very hard to hear. "I'm sure Frenchie with protect you from her evils...Mockingbird."
Lily shook her head and punched the book George was holding, so that it hit her in the face. "Oh shutup....... what is that, a new nickname? I noticed I was the only person you've met and haven't given one to... except for Lils.... but Mockingbird? Why on earth would you pick that?"

"Birds can surf too... that's no reason to kill them..."
George's eyes remained glued to her book. "Tsunamis are dangerous things..." She muttered.
"Oh shutup....... what is that, a new nickname? I noticed I was the only person you've met and haven't given one to... except for Lils.... but Mockingbird? Why on earth would you pick that?"
George cackled even as the book hit her face. "Come one Birdie! It's a good nickname, all loaded with subtext. You should like because it deal with books! Tom Robinson is a mockingbird, the symbol of innocence. And so are you." George's nose twitched as she tried to sober herself. but she couldn't stop the grin from spreading on her face.
"All the Mayella types at school trying to isolate you and destroy you, psychologically that is. And a select few sticking up for you..." The grin just kept spreading as George went on. "Atticus I'm sure would make sure your ending is different hehe, Birdie."

Lily looked at her with an odd expression on her face... Yes she understood very well the symbolism behind the Mockingbird. Being a bookworm, she really didn't need George to explain it to her, but she went on. "All the Mayella types at school trying to isolate you and destroy you, psychologically that is. And a select few sticking up for you...Atticus I'm sure would make sure your ending is different hehe, Birdie." George said, a very, very wide grin on her face.
Yes, it was true that Lily was alot like the symbolism for a mockingbird... but it was just... ODD. "George...... argh... why do I even tell you things?! " she said, her hand on her forehead, she laughed softly. "I suposse I am somewhat like a mockingbird...... but No one else will get the illustration...... and when you explain it to them, they are all going to think I have a crush on Atticus.... which I don't.." she lied definsively... she couldn't admit it to herself that she might actually like someone.
"We are DEFINATELY never coming back here again..." she muttered.

George raise her eyebrow at that. She remembered the lost look in Lily's face when she talked about Frenchie. "You are soooooo lying..." George shifted in her seat. "Besides you don't explain nicknames to people who don't use them. So no one needs to know why I call you that..."
George grinned. "We'll probably be back here tomorrow. I would so get a job here just to drink the coffee." She throw back her head and laughed. "You so have a crush on Frenchie. If you don't admit it, do you know what will have to happen?" George asked dangerously.

Lily shook her head... "No.. no I'm not. And I wouldn't let you tell anyone that anyways... so no worries..." she said, smiling slightly.
"We'll probably be back here tomorrow. I would so get a job here just to drink the coffee.. "[/color] she laughed. "You so have a crush on Frenchie. If you don't admit it, do you know what will have to happen?"
Lily shook her head again. "No way... The kitchen is up and running again.. I'm not coming back here with you again... EVER" she joked, still smiling. But it faded as George continued to speak. She looked at her skeptically, thinking of what hair-brained scheme George had up her sleeve now. "I don't so there isn't anything to admit...... But enlighten me anyways... What will happen when I don't admit that I like Fre-- Atticus... cause I don't..." she said, her elegant fingers placed the ribbon back in between the pages to save her spot.

"No way... The kitchen is up and running again.. I'm not coming back here with you again... EVER"
George did her puppy dog eyes again. "It's not so bad hanging out here with me," she whimpered.
"I don't so there isn't anything to admit...... But enlighten me anyways... What will happen when I don't admit that I like Fre-- Atticus... cause I don't..."
Her pout vanished and she grinned wickedly. Sitting up, she placed her finger in the pages of the book. And yes she managed to read and hold a light conversation with Lily. However the conversation with Lily had grown more interesting.
"Well, since Frenchie is French and likes to hang out in the kitchen, I suppose one day I will wonder in there and strike a conversation with him..." She let that linger in the air. "Wonder what we will talk about... Maybe a little Birdie...maybe the origin of French Toast...most likely a little Birdie though."

"It's not so bad hanging out here with me,"
Lily laughed. "Says you... You aren't the one who is getting picked on so freaking much.."
Lily watched George's little kid pout vanish into a wicked smile. She had obviously become more intrested in the conversation, because she stopped reading.

Lily's smile faded and she gaped at George. "YOU WOULDN"T!" she yelled, and then remembering she was in a public place, she lowered her voice. "I mean... it's rude to start rumors about other people..." she said, regaining her composure. She was sure George knew the truth now.... stupid little outburst ruined everything.
